FIREARMS
I will treat every gun as if it were loaded.
I will always point my gun in a safe direction.
I will KEEP MY FINGER OFF OF THE TRIGGER UNTIL READY TO SHOOT.
I will be sure of my target and what's beyond. I'll watch for individuals who may move between me and the target.
Firearms with manual safeties: The safety will only be disengaged when eyes are looking through the sights and ready to fire. Otherwise, the safety will be engaged.
I will not handle weapons behind the line. If I need to handle a weapon, I will go to the firing line before drawing from the holster or handling a weapon.
I will wear appropriate eye and ear protection during the course of fire.
I will obey all instructions from the Paladin Tactical instructors and associates.
I will not engage targets if my muzzle line is within 2 meters of another person.
I will use manufactured commercial ammunition. I understand that using reloaded ammunition comes with risk and I take complete responsibility for that risk.
I am familiar with and understand the operation of my firearms, holsters, and associated equipment.
FORCE-ON-FORCE/NON-LIVE FIRE TRAINING
I will not bring live weapons (guns, knives, tasers, etc.) and ammunition into the force-on-force training area.
I will conduct three (3) redundant safety checks prior to entering into force-on-force training to ensure that I am not carrying live ammunition or a firearm capable of firing live ammunition: 1) Self Check, 2) Buddy Check, and 3) Instructor Check. If I leave the training area, I will ensure that I undergo the three (3) safety checks above before re-entering.
I will check each round as I load magazines to ensure ONLY the following Non-Lethal Training Ammunition (NLTA) is being used: Simunition FX marking cartridges, Ultimate Training Munitions Man Marker Rounds or Blank Rounds, or Air Soft BBs.
I will wear the appropriate protective equipment to include full head, neck, and groin protection. I will also wear gloves and avoid skin exposure.
I will not fire NLTA at a person located within two (2) meters of me and will avoid shooting to the head and groin.
When in the presence of other participants who are conducting force-on-force training, I am responsible for wearing protective safety glasses to avoid injury from rounds fired in my proximity.
If there is a “real world” safety issue, I will call out “CEASE FIRE.”
TRAUMA CARE
I understand any and all trauma care content is for educational purposes only. I will use these techniques and equipment at my own discretion and take full responsibility for the outcome of my actions and/or inactions if I choose to provide care. Completion any Paladin course does not confer any official medical licensure or certification. I will not use techniques or equipment outside my "scope of practice" (for example, needle decompression, nasopharyngeal airways, etc.).
I realize that by completing this course, it does not require me to render medical aid to anyone; however, I will familiarize myself with the “Good Samaritan Law” to understand its intent and limitations (California Health and Safety Code Section 1799.102).
VEHICLES
I will wear an N-95 mask or equivalent while shooting through glass barriers.
When moving vehicles on the range: a) the “driver” will be fully seated in the vehicle with the door closed, b) three “pushers” will SLOWLY push from the rear or front of the vehicle only, c) I will not push from the sides or open doors of the vehicle and, d) I understand that those not involved in moving the vehicle will stand clear of the area.
SELF-DEFENSE AND THE LAW
I understand that use of force should be in accordance with the California Jury Instructions and/or applicable sections of the California Penal Code regarding self-defense laws (or the legal statutes in the state in which the use of force occurs).
Not all Paladin Tactical instructors are attorneys. For legal advice regarding self-defense laws, I will consult with a qualified attorney.
PHOTOGRAPHS/SOCIAL MEDIA
I grant permission to Paladin and their agents to take photographs or video tape for archive and promotional purposes. I waive my rights to inspect or approve finished images or electronic matter prior to any publication and waive any and all compensation or other remuneration for their use. However, if I wish to be excluded from photography/videography, I can make a request to the lead instructor prior to publication of the images.
I understand that I may take photographs/video of my activities during class; however, I may not videotape the instructional lessons, nor publicize those lessons in any manner, including social media platforms.
REFUND/CANCELLATION POLICY
I also understand that class fees are nonrefundable and cannot be transferred to another class. Classes rescheduled due to acts of God, including extreme weather or range closures outside of Paladin Tactical's control will be rescheduled in place of a refund. Changes in class location or class schedule will be communicated by the email address and phone number you provide. If a class is rescheduled due to a low number of signups, we will ask that you move to another class date. You will receive a full refund if we can't accommodate you with an alternate date.
